Welcome to the blog! This is where we tell the story of Franklin Park’s Youth Conservation Crew and what we do for the park every summer. I’m Reese, and I am one of the Crew Leaders in charge of 10 teenagers employed this summer in Franklin Park. Our crews clear invasive plants, maintain trails and do light landscape work throughout the park. Each Thursday evening we invite youth from the surrounding community to Sports Night where they can munch on grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and play pickup games like basketball and flag football with our crew.
This is my first time working with teens and doing outdoor work, and I am pretty impressed with our crew. We have about eight veterans returning this year, who currently do the job better than I can. Vanessa F. leads Crew A with me, while Demetrius and Vanessa B., or VB for short, lead another 10 teens known as Crew Z. Our first week was spent pulling invasive species such as Glossy Buckthorn and Japanese Knotweed in record-breaking heat.
In the coming weeks you will be hearing from other members of our organization. This is a place for our crew to express themselves and inform the public of our service. If you value Franklin Park and the work we do, then stick around. This is the place for you.

This summer has been a success and the youth have been busy working in the park clearing invasive plants and trees. They have been great keeping their cool literally with these hot days we have been having. I hope everyone keeps up the good work and adds more info to this blog.
Peace
Mike
